Tip of the Week – Loneliness – Sept 23/24

Loneliness:  I would say that is one word that comes to mind during the last few years.

Due to the restrictions and lock downs of Covid, it kept people inside and without a lot of outside communication or visitation.

With a lot of people working from home as well, there has been a lot less face to face human interaction.

I know it has definitely impacted our seniors in a negative way.  Things have started going back to what it was, but people are still leary of being around many people.

Only the people who work with the general public have been surrounded by people but even that has been through distance, curb side service and so on.

With the political portion added on to the medical health side of things, it has also created great division due to people’s views, beliefs, ideals, health, etc.

This created an environment of isolation and essentially a loneliness that is truly a travesty, especially if you are someone who isn’t very tech savvy or lives on your own.

There are a lot of people who do not have computers, tablets or smart phones and haven’t had video conferencing throughout this time. At least we have the technology at this time and we can see people and enjoy that much through video calls that aren’t breaking the bank.

Questions to Ponder:

How did you fare during the pandemic?

What did you learn?

What would you do differently if faced with a similar situation?

Have you felt or experienced a larger loneliness this past few years?

How have you managed with it?

What are you doing now to make changes to it?

Are things getting better?
